1a.
Creating your login and password
- Visit https://associationsciences.org/ASA/
- Under the heading 'Join ASA' select 'I have an existing account'. Click 'Proceed'.
- Enter the fields of information requested. Be sure to include your membership account number and the e-mail address affiliated with your ASA membership. Choose your username and password. Click ‘Continue’ when you are done.
1b. Change address and/or demographic information
- Login using the username and password that you have created for the Membership/Meeting Registration site.
- After entering the site, the My Account menu will be displayed in the left column. Select Manage Addresses or View/Change Profile and follow the directions displayed on each screen.
1c. Demographic information/address use by ASA
Your email address will be used to send you information regarding ASA and its activities. Some correspondence and e-mail messages will be sent on ASA's behalf by AIP Publishing. Your address, the other contact information that you provide, your membership status and your two top fields of interest will be included in the online ASA Membership Directory.
Demographic information, such as your date of birth, highest degree, professional identification will be used by ASA to compile statistics for use by ASA only. Demographic information will not be used in any other way.
2a. Membership Categories and Dues
The membership categories and their costs are as follows:
- Fellow - $200.00
- full Member - $200.00
- Associate-High -$200.00 (Associates after the fifth-year of membership)
- Associate - $150.00 (Associates in the first through fifth years of membership)
- Corresponding Electronic Associate - $50.00 (for members in developing countries)
- Student - $50.00
- Emeritus Status - $0.00 (Emeritus members pay a fee to access JASA online and other publications)
2b. Journal Costs
- Members in all categories (except emeritus who must pay a fee for access) receive online access to JASA and other ASA journal publications.
- Emeritus members who wish to receive JASA online must pay a fee of $50.00.
- JASA online is provided to members via username/password at https://acousticalsociety.org/asa-publications/.
2c. Online access to JASA and other ASA publications
JASA, JASA Express Letters, Proceedings of Meetings on Acoustics, Acoustics Today magazine, and archival publications including Acoustics Research Letters Online, Noise Control magazine, and Sound magazine are hosted online at https://acousticalsociety.org/asa-publications. Access to JASA is provided after a member has completed a User Agreement.
Use the username and password that you created for your online journal access.
ASA's magazine, Acoustics Today, can also be found online at acousticstoday.org. No password is required to access Acoustics Today.
2d. Membership Directory access
The ASA Membership Directory can be accessed from within the ASA Membership website by ASA members in good standing. Login to the ASA Membership website directly at https://associationsciences.org/ASA/ and select Search Members from the left navigation bar.
2e. Acceptable uses of your membership subscriptions
JASA is provided to individual members at reduced rates for the personal and sole use of the member. If anyone other than the member will use the Journal, those persons should join the Society and obtain their own copy of the Journal.
Journal online access intended for library use must be obtained through a nonmember subscription. 3a. Renew membership without any changes
If you wish to pay your dues without making any changes to your membership status, simply follow the instructions on each screen. You will be asked to review your renewal details before making final payment. A receipt will be issued when you have completed your renewal.
3b. Renew Membership with changes to membership category
Members may use the online renewal site to change from Student to Associate Membership or apply for full membership. The option to change from Student to Associate will be presented on-screen when you renew.
Members who wish to request transfer to full Membership may do so while renewing. Click "Check here if you would like to transfer to full Membership" when renewing and provide the additional required information. Note that your request for election to full Membership can take as long as six months to complete.
Members who wish to transfer to Student membership cannot renew their membership online. If you wish to transfer to Student Member, download a printed application form from the ASA website and follow the instructions on the form.
Emeritus members are exempt from payment of dues and receive Acoustics Today magazine online and in print. The fees for Emeritus members who wish to obtain online access to the full contents of JASA is $50.00
Members who wish to change to Emeritus status should apply in writing to ASA - [1305 Walt Whitman Road, Suite 110, Melville, NY 11747, asa@acousticalsociety.org]. Qualifications for Emeritus status are: a) membership in ASA for 20 years or more; b) age 65 or over; and c) employed no more than one-half of normal full-time (20 hours a week).
Emeritus members should acknowledge renewal online or by postal mail even if no payment is required to ensure continuity of membership. Emeritus members may change their journal options using the online renewal site.
3c. Credit cards that are accepted for payments
Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted for all payments to ASA
3d. Donations to the Acoustical Society Foundation Fund
Donations to the Acoustical Society Foundation Fund can be made during the membership renewal process or by logging into the website any time throughout the year with your username and password to:

Select the ‘Donation’ link in the left navigation bar to donate or from the Donate button on the main ASA webpage.

3f. Receipts
Your receipt of payment is conveniently displayed at the end of any online transaction on the ASA Membership or Meeting site. Please be sure to print this page for your records.
You can also access the 'order history' page from within the ASA Membership site by logging in to the site with your username and password and selecting 'Order History' from the left navigation
